Exotic Body Art Stylization
-
-
Adding to the eclectic mix of influences above, I follow my natural inclinations in painting impressionistically (the will to form) and decoratively (stylization). So my art is also in a continuum ranging from ancient Egyptian, minimalist modern to more complex and elaborate designs which are influenced by abstract art deco bronze sculptures and Florentine mosaics.

Much of the Exotic Body Art that you see here are pure escapism - (not unlike the Art Deco movement's reaction to World War, incidentally). Though we all feel this need to escape from all the constant vexation of terrorism and the threat of climate change. My images delve into the depths of the Antediluvian world (before the biblical deluge, when angels mixed among men --- because the "women were fair"---and produced giants). As you can see , I love to mix ancient art with exotic and modern art with my weird alchemy. Much of what you see here were inspired by the movies, Las Vegas, Disney and Hollywood---where I've spent a great deal of my time working in the studios.

This continuum swings from traditional classic exotic art, like those painted by Gustave Moreau and Sir Alma Tadema, to Cubist and Florentine mosaic works (like Modigliani) and pop Art Deco calendar art by Maxfield Parrish, glamour Art by Rolph Armstrong and Theodore Lukits (my art mentor). Art Deco also includes exotic tropical (Hawaiiana) and orientalist themes (Japonisme), so there is a common thread in all that you see here.

My fixation for Sirenes and ancient legends of mermaids will manifest its many forms - exotic body art and skin tone - in crystalline Fountains of Youth. My personal aesthetic for impressionism will take on a more ethereal form here (in contrast to the thick and heavy impasto paintings of impressionistic Tropicana Island). Regardless, you will be greeted with resorts themes...and Exotica Island features Vintage Erotica and vintage pin-up art when the diva mermaids visit the cities. As you know, these sexy mermaid paintings will be made available in the upcoming Exotic Art of Vito GiftShop :-)

Digital Art and Cubism in Crystal Island
-
-
When I think of crystals, I think of colors, rainbows and magical rock forms. Fantasy art and Art Deco simply flow together like milk and chocolate...that I can't help myself draw and paint their attributes. Essentially, digital art is pixel art. That's a square shape...and it's somewhat cubist. Art Deco Paintings (such as those by Picasso. Braque and Mondrian) have always been Cubist--(but I also like the minimalist simplicity and distorted forms of a Modigliani). So now I work with drawing and coloring with the pixel to create digital designs - combining the crystalline colors (impressionist colors) and Cubist (hard edge) properties of the pixel to create ethereal art.

There's a new island that I'm developing for works and progress. I named it Bravura Island. It will hold digital variations and versions of a painting or graphic design. Some of my paintings start out as graphics, drawings or sketches and when I develop them, I'm sometimes faced with a dilemma as to which island theme or style to allocate it. You see, there are also titles that are suitable for two or more islands (styles). When the Giftshop opens, you will see many variations and different themes that expand on your favorite images.

The actual drawing and coloring of select images will become Conversation Pieces that focus on digital art. These are Web 2.0 Studio art talk where you can participate in the art conversations and explore topics more deeply. Allow me to set the tone or topic with each chosen Conversation Piece. See any art you want to discuss (at length if you wish)? Just use the Content 2.0 form and send your feedback or story!
