In this rather animated Vintage Erotica painting, Margarita is here to grace Exotica Island - Las Vegas style! She's having a tour away from her tropical island home so she can strut her tantalizing Latino dance. I painted her with staccato and loose brushwork to suggest rhythm and movement, tropical ambiance and shifting light.

I've seen quite a bit of collectible vintage posters of exotic Latinas and senoritas over the years. Some of them are compiled in art books and some are featured in advertising calendars. Here, I've given Rita a contemporary yet vintage look---wearing an exotic costume--- which incorporates the vitality of Las Vegas, city night life and exotic resort themes ... which are reminiscent of vintage travel posters. 

My late art mentor Theodore Lukits painted Hispanic subjects with incredible dazzling colors. He liked painting with theatrical lighting and I share his love for Art Deco motifs.
